Excerpent is a software tool to publish and share quotes of text from other websites. By using Excerpent, you agree to be bound by these Terms and to review the privacy policy.

You are granted permission to use the software, free of charge, solely to publish quoted text that you wish to share for the purposes of criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, or research. You may not use the software to publish material for commercial profit or for any use not covered under the “fair use” doctrine in section 107 of the Copyright Law of the United States of America. You may not use the software to create copies in whole of any published work under copyright.

You may not use the software to publish material deemed by law to be libelous, or deemed to be a hate crime, or deemed to be in any other way illegal.

Copyright for all quoted text published with Excerpent belongs to the original author of that text. Anyone wishing to file a complaint of copyright infringement should send an email to with the URL of the page in question and an explanation of the infringing activity. Any published text found to be infringing on copyright law will be removed.
